Semarang City
Semarang City is the capital city of Central Java Province, located on the northern coast of Java. Semarang is the fifth largest metropolitan city in Indonesia, standing as a busy administrative and trading city. Most of the offices, business centers, and industrial estates are concentrated in the low land, while in the hilly side many houses with the beautiful gardens with a superb view to the town and the sea are located. The hallmark of Semarang City is located in several buildings that have survived since the Dutch colonial period, showing a blend of Javanese, Chinese and European cultures. A popular site for photo taking is Tugu Muda, a monument to commemorate a World War II battle between Indonesian defenders and Japanese soldiers.
Diponegoro University
Diponegoro University (Undip) is one of the top public
universities in Indonesia, located in Semarang as the capital city of Central
Java. Established in 1957, Undip consists of 13 different faculties which hold
several study focuses. Diponegoro University obtained “A” accreditation level
based on BAN-PT (13/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/PT/II/2018). Since January 2019, Diponegoro
University ranked 5 in the Indonesia and ranked 1,371 in the world for
Webometrics. Undip has a vision of becoming a superior research university and
an objective to produce graduates who have the profile of COMPLETE
(Communicator, Professional, Leader, Educator, and Thinker) who are able to
contribute to the development of science, technology, arts, culture, and
education at national and international level.
Department of Environmental Engineering
The Department of
Environmental Engineering was established in 1998 based on General Director’s
Decree of Higher Education No. 377/DIKTI/KEP/1998 and began accepting students
in the odd semester of the 1999/2000 academic year. Lecture activities in this
department were held in the Joint Lecture Building (GKB) of the Faculty of
Engineering. At present, the Department of Environmental Engineering has been
accredited on “A” level based on BAN-PT No. 929/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/IV/2018.
Generally, the Department of Environmental Engineering in Diponegoro University
learns many ways to solve environmental problems with a technical approach to
facilitate human work and minimize human error. Several topics which are learned
in this department are waste minimization, water and wastewater treatment, air
pollution control, water supply and sewerage, plumbing, drainage, environmental
health, environmental policy, environmental management, etc.
EnSi-RG
Environmental and Sustainability Reasearch Group is a knowledge-sharing center and a place to find improvements for local society. This research group aims to generate sustainable environmental knowledge that will empower local society to connect, elaborate and innovate. The EnSi-RG project focuses on environmental science and engineering aspects but is not limited to a multidisciplinary understanding of achieving a sustainable society. EnSi-RG connects academician, industry, business, government, and civil society, in Indonesia and internationally. EnSi-RG partners with some organizations, including University of Kitakyushu, Curtin University, Sebelas Maret University, Airlangga University, Bandung Technology Institute, Hasanuddin University and Pakuan University.
